Sherlock Holmes is one world famous detective. "Four Signs", "Return Records", "Terrorist Valley" and so on are all Konan Doyle’s most famous stories.
He is good at searching and discovering. He is a very careful person as well. In the stories, he can easily give you the explanation of the things happened just now. Sherlock Holmes is such a person.
“The hound of Baskervilles” is my favourite. There is a legend that a hound used to kill people in the Baskervilles family. Holmes wanted to know more about it because Doctor James asked him for help. During the case, Charles Baskervilles died and the cause of his death may be the hound. After watching the situation in a small house for a period of time, Holmes found the murderer and he is going to murder Sir Henry Baskervilles. Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Watson and Henry Baskervilles killed the hound at last and the murderer who wanted to get the money of the family finally died in the marsh.
It is a very exciting story shows how clever Sherlock Holmes is. Thanks to Konan Doyle, we can read a lot of good detective stories now.
Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think:
We remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past.
We remember her pursuit of justice. Its like a companion with the goodness. But still, a virtuous person should promote the goodness on one side and must check the badness on the other side.
We remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. In her opinion, everyone is the same at the Gods feet. Though there are differences in status、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality.
We also remember her striving for life, her toughness and her confidence
When we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or a transcendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality.
Actually, she wasnt pretty, and of course, the ordinary appearance didnt make others feel good of her, even her own aunt felt disgusted with it. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease, so when Miss Ingram met Jane Eyre, she seemed quite contemptuous, for that she was obviously much more prettier than the plain and ugly governess. But as the little governess had said: Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! This is the idea of equality in Jane Eyres mind. God hadnt given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of equality and self-respect impress us so much and let us feel the power inside her body.
In my mind, though a persons beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isnt the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, its not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a persons great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as AN EVERLASTING BEAUTY, just as Kahill Gibran has said, that Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted。 I can feel that how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we cant distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but fleshly men, so we cant distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but as there are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not.
Her story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.

The book Wuthering Heights told us a story about love and revenge: the abandoned boy Heathdiff was adopted by Mr Eamshaw and lived with Mr Earnshaws son Hindley and daughter Cathiner. Hindley disliked Heathdiff. He insulted and maltreated Heathdiff in every possible way after Mr Earnshaws death. At the same time, peculiar emotion occurred between Cathiners and Heathdiff. Because of vanity and ignorance, Cathiner decided to mary Linton. Heathdiff left with anger. Three years later, Heathdiff returned to revenge. He succeeded in annexing all the property of Hindleys and the Lintons. However, Cathiners ghost pestered him all the time, and he died in mental disorder.
To understand Wuthering Heights, you must know the auther Amily well. She had been abnormal in inentality ever since her childhood. Her sister Charlotte had once said that Amily was even stronger than a man in character, and more simple than a child. He name Heathdiff was compounded by the words Heath and Cliff, itself gave the readers a feeling of unfeelingness, which well annotated Amilys abnormal mentality.
Abnormal mentality did good for inducing and enriching the imagination of the auther in some way. Sometimes, Amilys imagination was beyond human nature but urueasenable. That was why she could with the thrilling scene in Mr lockwoods dream, the behainour of Cathiner when she fell ill, and the words full of strong enthusiasm but unimaginable like. They were locked in an embrace from which I thought my mistress would never be released alive.
Amilys abnormal quality decided the thinking way during her creating, but her work was far from abnormal. Withering Heights is a healthy and harmonious work.Love-hetred-Ievenge-the Ievival of huanan natme, that is the clue of the story Cathiner and Heathdiff weIe a coupla of Iebels against the trandition The tragedy happened all because Cathiner didit Iesist thoughout and betraged Heathcliff at the key moment she ruined herself,Heathdiff and nearty the next generation The author portraged Cathiner Ivth a complicated mood she sympathized with her while being angry with her and she feet Sony for her while spurring to her.
The most vivid character in the story was Iepresented by Hindley and he could bear he was tormented by love Catheters contempt and Laughing at him that was what he couldnt bear That the heavy pies sure split his soul explained his cruel and crazyIeuenge. The writing of the novel gave preference to mysterious phenomenon and horrible atmosphere One of the most important fealties was the complexity of the narration structure It broke away from conventions and began from the middle This method of narration was for more attractive.
Among all the characters like the housekeeper Allen most She was never afraid of them she always said and did what she wanted to The most important point is that she was kind hearted and justice.A good book is worthy leading for many tines Withering Heights is not easy to understand but once you understand it you wild wander at the talent of the author.

‘WE ARE EQUAL!’ When these three words came out of the plain-looking girl’s mouth, the whole world was shocked.
We have good reason to be shocked——deprived of family happiness from an early age, with neither beauty nor wealth to speak of, Jane Eyre seems to be never destined to become the heroine shining in the spotlight we often read about in romances——but is there really such a thing called destiny? At least Jane doesn’t think so. She is not pretty; she is not rich; she is a mere ordinary governess, so what? As an individual human existence, she has dignity as well as anyone else, so she deserves the chance to love and to be loved as well as anyone else! Despite her short, delicate body, her soul is not the least weaker than others’——even greater than most of them. The moment she said the three powerful words to Mr. Rochester proudly and steadily, her pale face must have been sparkling with sacredness, which would have made her the most beautiful woman ever, because the beauty of independence is eternal. With this spirit of independence she not only gained herself love, respect and happiness but also proved to the world that nobody is second class——unless you believe yourself to be.
Hundreds of thousands of ordinary girls that usually get neglected in life——me included——love and admire Jane deeply because she inspires and encourages us to strive for our life goals against all odds bravely. She is a role model, an idol in our hearts but at the same time a friend, a big sister next door who’s not at all cold and distant, always ready and willing to stand by our side whenever we are in trouble. Every time when I feel inferior, puzzled and lose faith in myself and the strength to carry on the life path already chosen, Jane, my dear friend’s determined face and forceful words on that serene summer night would emerge inside my mind, which never failed to relight my fire of passion. Oh, how I long to be like her.
But it’s not that I totally believe in her life story, by which I mean I don’t think the story of hers can happen to anybody. To me, it’s somewhat like a fairy tale that begins with ‘long long ago’ and ends with ‘ever after’, in which the prince and princess, though having suffered much in the process of getting together, would always end up in a harmonious marriage and enjoy all the best life has to offer. Being an obscure girl herself, the author Charlotte Bronte was so generous as to have provided our dear Jane a Mr. Rochester who loves her just the way she is, appreciates her unique character and a kindhearted family (later proved to be her relatives) that took her in when she was helpless and offered her a job to support herself. In reality, not every Jane Eyre can meet the proper people at the right time, just as not every ugly duckling can turn into a graceful swan——it may depend on a matter of luck. If you are too obsessed with fairy tales, you are very likely to feel disappointed and deceived by the not-so-perfect everyday life. But what are fairy tales for? We love to read them and we tend to believe in them even though we know they are not real. Sometimes we do need a little romantic daydream as seasonings in the routine of life, and we also need an ideal to believe in, a creed to live by, and a northern star to show us directions on the long journey.
That’s maybe what Jane Eyre is for——it gives numerous common girls a possibility to look forward to, a life to reach for, and above all, a positive attitude to face all odds to encounter. Perhaps we can’t all have her luck, but we can have her independence, confidence, persistence, the courage of standing up to fight for ourselves against those seemingly taller than us, and the faith that we can finally win because WE ARE EQUAL.

Life is like a box of chocoles —— 《Forrest Gump》 "Mom always said life is just like a box of chocoles。 You'll never know what you gonna get。" Ever find the grind of life getting you down? It is interesting to examine the last half of Chapter 20, "Confidential。" Jo addresses the maturation issue as she speaks with Marmee of the situation between Meg and Mr。 Brooke。 The possible love between these two represents one of the very important aspects in ing of age for a teenage girl。 Jo treats this natural process as if it were some sort of disease, however。 Jo cannot understand why Meg would want to stop behaving "like a sensible creature" (p。202), and refers to love as "such nonsense。" Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is where Harry Potter and his friends learned about magic。 Main Characters:Harry Potter is an 11 year old boy who’s parents died, and he goes to Hogwarts。 Ron Weasley is an 11 year old boy who has 5 brothers and 1 sister, and he goes to Hogwarts。 Hermione is a 10 year old girl who likes learn a lots , and she goes to Hogwarts。 Quirrell is Hogwarts’s teacher,Voldemort’s helper。 Voldemort is an evil guy of the magic world。 Climax:Harry never thought Quirrell was helping Voldemort。 Quirrel cought Harry and let him to get the Philospher’s stone, but when Harry got it, he didn’t give it to Quirrell, and Voldemort came out, from the back of Quirrell’s head! And Voldemort orderd Quirrell to catch Harry and get the stone, but when Quirrell touched Harry, his body dissolved, and then he died。 Conclusion:Harry defeated Voldemort, and the year has finished,it’s time for the school cup,Gryffindor was in last , but 4 more things let them win! The reason is the nature of goodness。 I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty。 Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded。 For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person。 Goodness is to humans what water is to fish。 He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person。 On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person。 People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself。 To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity。 They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted。 As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others。 On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit。 In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility。 If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down。 They are one of the sorts that I really detest。 Francis Bacon said in his essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin。’ That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything。 Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those ‘vermin-to-be’ to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness。 英语读后感(五): 英语读后感 《飘》 Scarlett , a very personality figures ,the two mans she love ,neither does she know about。To her, I was pelled to admire, admire her strong and brave, admire her to lay down in the environment, farm workers previously suffered education, admire her to disregard the munity to create their own expression of the cause 。She is in the whole story, all a person full of fighting will full of vitality 。 I appreciated most , it is this " Tomorrow is another day of hers。 " 。 Promising forever, full of fighting will , will never give up, never desperate。 I think I'm moved by her。So, whenever I meet difficulty, the mood is not good, I will tell oneself : " Tomorrow is another day。 " 'Gone with the Wind' is absolutely a good book that is worth sampling repeatedly, the characters are graceful , the plot rises and falls, exciting boldly and unconstrainedly, though the subjective factor because of the author among them , the appraisal on U。S。A。's Civil War is not objective and overall, but as to angle of literature, this one fine piece of writing generation definitely absolutely, worth visiting。 Title: The Little Prince Author: Antoine de St-Exupery Main Characters: The little prince, the pilot, the rose, the fox, the snake, etc。 Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories。 The tales, which acpany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children。 This summer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940。 It’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince。 As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very plex。 “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara。 In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612。 The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet。 In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids。 On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer。 From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd。 Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth。 Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time。 She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters。 The characters have their own personalities。 Mrs。 Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters。 Mr。 Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr。 Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior。 Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different。 Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others。 Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion。 Mary likes reading classic books。 (Actually she is a pedant。) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia。 Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate。 When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now。 T hat is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century。 The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic。 But this little topic can reflect big problems。 It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century。 You can find these from the very beginning of this book。 The first sentence in this book is impressive。 It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”。 The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession。 People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories。 In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs。 After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man。 I couldn’t forget how eager Mrs。 Bennet wants to marry off her daughters。 If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time。 Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions。 Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their fortable lives。 Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to bee wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions。 Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century。 In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr。 Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them。 From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband。 The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married。 In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind。 A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages。 Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage。 Marry for money is still a big problem in our society。 We can’t help thinking: can money determine everything? Austen left this problem for us to think。 The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems。 Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively。 The plots in her works are always very natural。 The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics。 I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic。 Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time。 After reading "A tale of two cities" "A tale of two cities" is one of Dickens's most important representative works。The novel profoundly exposed the society contradiction before the French Revolution, intensely attacks the aristocratic social class is dissolute and cruel, and sincerely sympathizes with the depressed classes。The novel also described many magnificent scenes like the revolt people attacked Bastille and so on,which displayed people's great strength。 The novel has portrayed many different people。 Doctor Manette is honest and kind but suffers the persecution actually , Lucie is beautiful and gentle ,Charles is graceful and noble,Lorry is upright and honest ,Sydney is semblance of indifferent, innermost feelings of warm, unconventional but also selfless and lofty,Miss Pross is straightforward and loyal,Evremonde brothers are cruel and sinister。。。。。。The plex hatred is hard to solve, the cruel revenge has made more hatreds, loves rebirth in the hell edge, but take the life as the price。 As an outstanding writer,in Dickens's work, the language skill is essential。Each kind of rhetoric technique, like the analogy, the exaggeration, the contrast, the humorous, and the taunt are handled skillfully, and the artistry of the work is also delivered the peak。"A tale of two cities" has its difference with the general historical novel, its character and the main plot are all fictionalizes。With the broad real background of the French Revolution, the author take the fictional character Doctor Manette's experience as the main clue, interweaves the unjust charge, love and revenge three independences but also incident cross-correlation stories together, the plot is criss-crossed,and the clue is plex。The author use insert narrates, foreshadowing, upholstery and so many techniques, causes the structure integrity and strictness, the plot winding anxious and rich of theatrical nature,it displayed the remarkable artistic skill。the style "A tale of two cities" is solemnity and melancholy, fills indigna ntion, but lacks the humor of the early works。 Written in the first chapter of the book Pride and Prejudice is an extraordinary sentence of which even a person who has had only a brief look upon the book will not fail to receive a deep impression-It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife。 In terms of Sherlock Holmes, we’d better alter the sentence into “It is a fact universally accepted by readers throughout the world that an excellent book in possession of our famous detective Sherlock Holmes is undoubtedly a masterpiece of all times。” Perhaps this is one of the most obvious explanations for the unrivaled popularity of “Holmes series” in the field of detective stories。 Overwhelmed by the remendations provided by my friends, I decided to take a look on this Sherlock Holmes and the Duke’s Son originally published by Oxford University Press。 As a whole, this book is about a case concerning the Duke’s missing son。 Arthur, the Duke’s son, was found out in a certain morning to have disappeared, acpanied with which was also the disappearance of the German teacher。 The school master Dr。 Huxtable then turned to the famous detective of the time Sherlock Holmes for help。 Realizing how tough and important the case is, Holmes immediately made up his mind to accept the case and followed Dr。 Huxtable back to Mackleton by train。 Having formed a rough idea about the whole matter, Holmes probed into the case immediately and had a careful investigation of the entire area shortly after the arrival, during the process of which he discovered the body of the German teacher Heidegger。 Finally, primarily due to his prominent ability as a detective, he managed to unravel the mystery and obtained the twelve thousand pounds promised by the Duke。 Having once started reading this fiction, I was pletely immersed in the mysterious story presented by the book。 As the saying goes, “Well begun, half done”。 At the beginning of the story, just like many other detective stories, the author gives us a brief description of the condition by the words of a client。 However, unlike other ones, this story first delineates the client’s strange behavior at length to indicate the severity of the incident in order to attract the readers to continue reading it。 As is known to all, vivid depiction is essential to detective stories since it can help the readers understand each figure’s characteristics and visualize the scenes, thus making the story more authentic and attractive。 Therefore, trying to present a “real world” to his readership, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the original “Holmes series”, has skillfully arranged the plots of the whole story from the perspective of Dr。 Watson, a character not so specialized in discovering the truth hidden behind the enigmatic happenings as Holmes but so loyal to Sherlock Homes as a friend that he always acpanies Holmes wherever he goes。 In this way, he elaborately depicted every scene and character in the book, Apart from the special start, the ending of the whole story, being dramatic but reasonable, is certainly an outstanding one。 After all, except the author himself, who knows that the Duke’s seemingly ordinary secretary is in fact the Duke’s bastard? In addition, who knows that the Duke actually has already been acquainted with the whole thing before Holmes solves this plicated problem? Yet, surprising as it is, this ending seems so natural that it fits all the plots of the story perfectly well。 While enjoying this wonderful story, I could do nothing but admire the wonderful design of this masterpiece as well as the author’s gorgeous writing skill。 Closing my eyes, I can even “see” the story happening just like watching a film。 Not until then did I understand why the Japanese cartoon film Detective Conan used this “Conan” as the name of its hero。 As far as I am concerned, nothing is more admirable and surprising in the hero Sherlock Homes than his profound knowledge which has certainly assisted him a lot when he was studying the case。 Take the bicycle tyres for instance, Holmes actually is capable of recognizing 42 different varieties of bicycle tyres。 What’s more, according to his other stories, Holmes has studied different kinds of newspapers, cigarettes, people’s footprints and other special things as well。 Therefore, he seems to have the mastery of anything relevant to the cases he deals with。 Except for his illimitable knowledge, Holmes also specializes in arranging the facts in order and then finding the fact leading him to a great discovery or even the truth itself。 From his speaking “Every mystery has an answer”, we can readily shape the impression of a man with great intelligence and inflexible will。 In this case, after getting rid of unrelated facts, Sherlock Homes eventually grasped the clue and discovered the amazing f act。 Needless to say, as a world-renowned masterpiece, Sherlock Holmes and the Duke’s Son has attracted and is still charming numerous readers from all corners of the world and people from all walks of life。 The “Holmes series” has already set up a standard against which all the following detective fictions are measured。 Sherlock Holmes, beyond all doubt, has bee a name firmly rooted in people’s memories。 Although Dr。 Watson’s closing The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes in 1927 was a great pity to the readers, the discontinuance of the entire “Holmes series” may have actually added to the legendary stature of Sherlock Holmes。 Published in 1847, WUTHERING HEIGHTS was not well received by the reading public, many of whom condemned it as sordid, vulgar, and unnatural--and author Emily Bronte went to her grave in 1848 believing that her only novel was a failure。 It was not until 1850, when WUTHERING HEIGHTS received a second printing with an introduction by Emily's sister Charlotte, that it attracted a wide readership。 And from that point the reputation of the book has never looked back。 Today it is widely recognized as one of the great novels of English literature。 Even so, WUTHERING HEIGHTS continues to divide readers。 It is not a pretty love story; rather, it is swirling tale of largely unlikeable people caught up in obsessive love that turns to dark madness。 It is cruel, violent, dark and brooding, and many people find it extremely unpleasant。 And yet--it possesses a grandeur of language and design, a sense of tremendous pity and great loss that sets it apart from virtually every other novel written。 The novel is told in the form of an extended flashback。 After a visit to his strange landlord, a newer to the area desires to know the history of the family--which he receives from Nelly Deans, a servant who introduces us to the Earnshaw family who once resided in the house known as Wuthering Heights。 It was once a cheerful place, but Old Earnshaw adopted a "Gipsy" child who he named Heathcliff。 And Catherine, daughter of the house, found in him the perfect panion: wild, rude, and as proud and cruel as she。 But although Catherine loves him, even recognizes him as her soulmate, she cannot lower herself to marry so far below her social station。 She instead marries another, and in so doing sets in motion an obsession that will destroy them all。 WUTHERING HEIGHTS is a bit difficult to "get into;" the opening chapters are so dark in their portrait of the end result of this obsessive love that they are somewhat off-putting。 But they feed into the flow of the work in a remarkable way, setting the stage for one of the most remarkable structures in all of literature, a story that circles upon itself in a series of repetitions as it plays out across two generations。 Catherine and Heathcliff are equally remarkable, both vicious and cruel, and yet never able to shed their impossible love no matter how brutally one may wound the other。 As the novel coils further into alcoholism, seduction, and one of the most elaborately imagined plans of revenge it gathers into a ghostly tone: Heathcliff, driven to madness by a woman who is not there but who seems reflected in every part of his world--dragging her corpse from the grave, hearing her calling to him from the moors, escalating his brutality not for the sake of brutality but so that her memory will never fade, so that she may never leave his mind until death itself。 Yes, this is madness, insanity, and there is no peace this side of the grave or even beyond。 It is a stunning novel, frightening, inexorable, unsettling, filled with unbridled passion that makes one cringe。 Even if you do not like it, you should read it at least once--and those who do like it will return to it again and again The tale of two cities is a historical story, one of Dickens’ long fictions。The background to the novel is the revolution of France 。It portrayed a brutal and bloody story , but it also contained love and friendship。 In the novel, Dickens sarcastically described a typical cruel nobleman—marquis of Evermonde 。 When he was young he and his brother stole a countrywoman by force and killed her family 。What’s worse , he used his power to imprison Dr Manette , a kind and honest man who knew all the things they had done and wanted to disclose their crimes 。 In order to hide their crimes。 Marquis of Evermonde and his brother threw Doctor Manette into prison for 18 years 。 During these 18 years,Doctor Manette lost his freedom and suffer a great in spirit 。 I felt unthinkable that Marquis of Evermonde and his brother killed people just as easily as they killed chickens。 They deprived other people’s freedom as they liked and they thought it was normal and unremarkable。 They had never realized that they had done something wrong or something improper。 Because their nature was cruel and evil, like demons。 There is an old saying which means: People who mit too many crimes will kill themselves。 After all, there is justice in the world。 The demons can’t be rampant forever。 Because the world will not forgive them。 They will pay their lives for their crimes。 Let’s see the consequence of the Marquis,’’He lay there like a stone with a knife pushed into his heart。” I think it was just what he ought to gain and it is a real exciting scene。 The Marquis’ death was just the beginning of people’s resistance to the nobleman。 Gradually more and more people joined in the revolution。 One after another nobleman were sentenced to death and their heads were cut down 。 However, some innocent people were implicated in the revolution。 Charles Darney was one of them He was the nephew of Marquis of Evermonde。 To the opposite of his uncle, Darney was a kind and independent young man。 Dickens spoke highly of kindness mercy and love in the novel too。 This is the other thone of the novel when Doctor Manette was released from prison。 It was his daughter Lucie who took care of him and helped him return to normal。 During this time, Dr manette and Lucie knew Charles Darney and Sydeny Carton, the two young man fell in love with Lucie at the same time 。 At last, Lucie married Chares Darney 。Dr Manette accepted Darney as his son-in-law although he knew that Darney was the nephew of the man who threw him into prison for18 years。 This is the love between father and daughter。 And Sydeny Carton , the very great man ,loved Lucie deeply。 He promised Lucie that he would do everything for her happiness。 He did it truely ,he sacrificed himself instead of Darney who looked the same as him。 This is love for lovers 。 This is the most wonderful thing in the world。 It also reminds us that no matter how no matter when there is true love existing。 At the end , Lucie, Dr Manette and Darney arri ved in England safely。 The tale of two cities is different from other historical fictions。 Its characters and main plots are fictional under the real background of the revolution of France。 The author made the experience of the fictional charactor Dr Manette as the main clue。The plots are plicated, and they are flexuous and dramatic。 The structure is plete and rigorous。 Dickens had dear love and hate。 He praised those who ought to be praised and attacked those who ought to be attacked。 The motivation of the novel maybe just warn the English dominators。 But I think we can learn something meaningful from the tale of two cities。 Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think: We remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past. We remember her pursuit of justice. It’s like a companion with the goodness. But still, a virtuous person should promote the goodness on one side and must check the badness on the other side. We remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. In her opinion, everyone is the same at the God’s feet. Though there are differences in status、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality. We also remember her striving for life, her toughness and her confidence… When we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or a transcendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality. Actually, she wasn’t pretty, and of course, the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her, even her own aunt felt disgusted with it. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease, so when Miss Ingram met Jane Eyre, she seemed quite contemptuous, for that she was obviously much more prettier than ‘the plain and ugly governess’. But as the little governess had said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of equality in Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of equality and self-respect impress us so much and let us feel the power inside her body. In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a person’s great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as AN EVERLASTING BEAUTY, just as Kahill Gibran has said, that ‘Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted’。 I can feel that how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but as there are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not. Her story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty. Keep On Chasing The Dreams ---Reading response of Jane Eyre This is a story about an orphans growing path. At last the character had successfully achieve her dream. This book has encouraged me a lot. Whatever how many difficulties you are facing. just dont give up and keep on chasing your dreams. and we also have to learn the spirit of Jane which is persevering. It was because she had such a brave heart, would she get the real love. Sunshine comes after the storm, if we try our best , our dreams will finally come to! trust ourselves!
